Women-centred health care is not always available to women in the Downtown Eastside.  Primary health care is often inaccessible for survival sex workers due to their fear of encountering johns, dealers and pimps at clinics in the area.

WISH has nurses from the BC Centre for Disease Control Street Nurse Program one night a week and Nurse Practitioners from BC Women's Hospital one night per week.  In addition, Living Trhough Loss Counselling Society provides a Grief and Loss councellor one night per week and 5shen Accupuncture and Herbal Therapy  comes one night a week to offer complimentary services to the primary health care. All of these services are well used by women who come to WISH and are often their only link with health care providers.
